Standoff

Standoff glass railing is a system where the panels of glass are installed with standoffs (heavy, round stainless-steel cylinders). The glass has holes precisely pre-drilled, and it is leveled in place. The standoffs secure the panel to the vertical face of the stair or face of the ledge. This system can be a frameless rail with a minimal amount of visual hardware. Note: due to how the glass is fastened, a decision to use this system needs to be made early on at the framing stage. Sufficient backing will be needed to be in place prior to installation to support the glass.

Clamped

Clamped Glass Railing is a system in where the panels of glass are installed with clips mounted to posts or sometimes to the shoe. This system allows you to use wood or steel posts. If you wanted to highlight any kind of hardware (steel or oil rub bronze) this system makes it possible because of the amount of posts required. To many people, this is a very appealing style.

Base Shoe

Base shoe glass railing is a system where the panels of glass are secured to a bottom supporting shoe. Sometimes, there is an additional support at the top, but not always. Essentially, the glass panels exists within a steel or wooden frame. Because there is no need for standoffs, clips or hardware, this railing has the cleanest visual look.
